The gift for a first wedding anniversary is Freshwater Pearl, and this is a wonderful, unique expression of that tradition. Flowing lines of 22kt gold vermeil gives this unique piece a comfortable gracefulness. Ageless beauty in an Art to Wear piece that is sure to please.
Michou’s craftsman are expert in vermeil – a process where microns of gold are deposited onto a sterling silver surface. The process is intricate in that all the details that are not gold have to be painted with a masking solution in order to protect the silver from the gold being deposited on it’s surface. Vermeil is the offical industry designation for heavy gold electroplating over a base of sterling silver material. A minimum thickness of 2 microns of gold must be deposited before it can be sold as vermeil. Michou utilizes a thickness of 3 microns of 22kt gold, raising the bar.
We chose this piece because it spoke to us of clouds and life giving rain.
Ice crystals sparkle on newly fallen snow and waterfalls cascade down hillsides. Spring is in the air as buds push their way through the last fragile ice layer. In Michou’s initial Spring Frost offering, pale blue topaz, gleaming freshwater pearls, deep African amethyst, and watery iolite are set in tendrils of gold vermeil wire and textured sterling.
All cool grace and elegance, Vines is the fresh addition to Spring Frost. Glossy, iced pearls dangle on golden stems, arranged in luscious clusters on frosted sterling silver vines that celebrate the height of winter.
Easy to wear while also flowing, simple, and striking. Spring Frost and Vines translate across every outfit, fresh and playful elegance for every occasion.
